itmightgetloud-425What happens when Davis Guggenheim (Director of An Inconvenient Truth) gets three of the greatest living electric guitar players together?  The Edge (U2), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) and Jack White (The Racontuers) come together in a cavernous studio while their stories and love affairs with the electric guitar infold. It DOES get LOUD…..and I LOVED it. A must see for classic rock fans and those who appreciate the brilliance that these artists convey through their guitars.

20090828_yknp_250x375After Senator Ted Kenedy’s death this week, I sat rivoted watching In His Own Words a made for HBO documentary about Kennedy’s life. The documentary was truly the “:last word” on Kennedy’s life thatnks to HBO’s unsurpassed editing. Youth Knows No Pain airing Monday, August 31 on HBO will be the last word or at least the most accurate on the obsession in our American (Caucasian) culture on aging. Mitch McCabe who made this must see documentary, is sure to make an impression on how we see ourselves and the impact a youth oriented culture has had on the Plastic Surgery business.

47379_in_lThis YSL tailored crepe jacket available for $2352.00 on www.netaporter.com is the benchmark for the strong, yet feminine and sexy look you may want to convey this Fall/Winter.  YSL was THE  man when it came to the perfectly articulated feminine version of the classic man’s Le Smoking aka The Tuxedo. Both DVF and Carolina Herrera paid tribute to YSL upon his death when they showed up at The CFDA’s a couple of years ago (the day after his death) in their original YSL jackets. They looked just as chic as when they had first warn them. Vintage stores are a great resource for tuxedo jackets. Whether a tuxedo jacket or just a strong black blazer you can update your look by adding the imortant jacket to your wardrobe.

20090826_roitfeld_250x405 Carolyn Rotfield, Editor of French Vogue has admitted in an interview with The UK Times that she really didn’t know what her style was until she received direction from none other tham Tom Ford who told her to keep her look clean, simple and with an emphasis on structured silhouettes, Her now signature smokey eye was also Ford’s doing, Now that is honesty. The look this Fall is definitely a reflection of Rotfield’s influence, Actually, the look this Fall might just be a reflection of that super-fashion God, Tom Ford!!!!!

Louboutin World

This bag says a lot about how we feel about the upcoming Fall/winter season in fashion: we aspire to straddle the balance between femininity and the strength conveyed through a more masculine/menswear and strong shouldered approach. This Louboutin bag is definitely aspirational: We just aren’t running out to get THAT bag or THOSE shoes. But we can all be inspitred by good design and great taste. At 1200.00 and some change, this perfect LBB (little black bag) isn’t perfect for every budget, but copying IS the sincerest form of flattery! Next blog entry will be the more toned down pricepoint!!!  netaporter.com48558_in_l

Fashionable Genius

Fashionable Genius

As you have heard both Jen and I talk about on A Fashionable Life, we ADORE Patrick Robinson, the genius behind The Gap comeback. I would do almost anything Patrick requests so of course I marched myself into a nearby Gap and began to try on jeans. Patrick and his team spent a year designing, redesigning, meeting, reviewing, cutting, adding and finally designing jeans for most women. Although I didnt buy a pair, only because I wanted to think about my purchase for a day or so, I was impressed by the fit, fabric and how “pretty good” my butt looked in many different pairs! go to www.borntofit.com and listen to this fashionable force in our business!
