Frankly, Fashion Week has been a big yawn. The new venue at Lincoln Center looks like the Virgin Atlantic first class lounge. So commercial and over the top…..not my style at all. Anyway, the real news to me is that belts, bags and shoes will be THE MOST important items in the spring. All easy accessories that can change an outfit. This outfit from the Michael Kors Spring 2011 show today, reveals this trend best. Leave it to our man MK to lead the troops….believe me, everyone will follow so every price will be well represented this spring.

The Best in Buckles

These Michael Kors sandals are a great example of the season trend in shoes. Buckles, gladiator style, zipped up the back and smokin high heel is what jumped off MK’s runway for fall. These beauties are a little pricey at $1295 (I know!!!) but look for the same features in a different price point and step out in style. I personally will continue to dream about these!

Our friends at WHO WHAT WEAR DAILY always impress us with their fashion knowledge and complete coverage. The trend of the shearling jacket is a prime example of that! Yes, shearling coats are back on the scene this season in all shapes, sizes and price points. These furry little jackets were seen on every major runway and is certainly a staple in the Burberry Collection…SO….if Christopher Baily, the creative genius behind the label says it’s a trend, then, stop, listen and definitely learn. He is a “shear” genius!

Okay, I was born in January and my parents did give me an unusual “J” first name for which I am grateful, but I would have done anything to have been called January! Lucky Miss January Jones got a little more fairy dust from the big man upstairs than me and she got some serious talent too! Her gown last night showed off all these assets! DonatellaVersace knew her customer and created a fabulous electric blue asymmetrical gown that jumped off the red carpet. There was so much detail on her gown, that her stylist was brilliant in keeping her hair and jewelry choices very simple. It’s a shame Don Draper can’t see her finer side!

Has the blue become the new black? I was thrilled to see the majority of varying color blue gowns on the Emmy Red Carpet last night. My favorite, Oscar de la Renta’s strapless ruffled perfection worn by Lea Michele of Glee, was a complete knock out. The cascading ruffles were the perfect detail to add to the fitted body and the right choice for her petite figure. Check out the dark nail polish and the minimal jewelry except for her major statement necklace.

This was THE HIT of the night not to mention I get all teary hearing her sing anything by Miss Barbra!

As we approach the Spring Collections this September in New York, we will see this influence carried over from this fall 2010 into spring 2011. Essie does it again for us this fall 2010. Her polishes have been winning awards for years and not just because she comes up with the most clever names, like Melton Cool and Little Brown Dress, for this season, but the texture is the best around.
